Passion tea lemonade is going to be your next favorite drink on a hot summer day! The kids love homemade lemonade, so much that they will go into the kitchen and make it themselves! This is a copycat drink from the Starbucks refresher and now you too can make it at home! Whether you’re preparing a gallon to keep in your fridge for leisurely sipping over several days or serving up a crowd, this recipe has you covered. Best of all, it’s a fraction of the cost of a single barista drink! In fact, the entire batch, yielding an impressive 16 servings is around $2! Guess what else? You won’t have to wait in a long drive-thru line for this one!
Imagine an ice cold refreshing glass of passion tea lemonade while you enjoy the sunshine! This delightful drink is sweet enough for the kids to love but contains only about a tablespoon of sugar per serving. To put that into perspective, it has roughly 25% of the sugar found in a typical soda. One 12 oz can of soda contains nearly 3.5 tablespoons of sugar. Plus, it requires only three simple ingredients along with water: passion tea, sugar, and freshly squeezed lemons. Easy peasy!
What is Passion Tea?
Passion tea is a delicious herbal tea that is tart and floral in flavor. It’s caffeine-free and non-GMO, made from a delightful blend of hibiscus flower, licorice root, orange peel, cinnamon, rose hips, lemongrass, and elderberry extract. It’s simply delicious on its own, and we often brew it warm for cold winter days.
One of the standout ingredients in Tazo Passion Tea is hibiscus, which is packed with antioxidants like anthocyanins and flavonoids. These compounds help neutralize free radicals in the body, potentially reducing oxidative stress and lowering the risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease and cancer.
Since Tazo Passion Tea is naturally caffeine-free and contains zero sugar or calories, it’s an exceptional way to stay hydrated without adding unnecessary calories to your daily intake. Even when mixed with fresh homemade lemonade, it stands out as a smart alternative to sugary sodas and energy drinks—especially for those mindful of their weight or managing blood sugar levels.
Hibiscus has also been studied for its potential to lower blood pressure, making it a heart-friendly choice. The addition of orange peel and rose hips not only enhances the flavor but also boosts vitamin C content, which is vital for vascular health and immune function.
Furthermore, ingredients like rose hips and orange peel possess anti-inflammatory properties that may help alleviate symptoms of arthritis and irritable bowel syndrome, promoting overall wellness by combating inflammation in the body. With the vitamin C from rose hips and citrus peel, Tazo Passion Tea can strengthen your immune system too, which is crucial for defending against illness and maintaining healthy, radiant skin.
Preparation, Servings, and Storage
This passion tea lemonade is easy to prepare in about 15 minutes- seriously, my 1o year old can make it! After combining all the ingredients, refrigerate for an hour. This is always the hardest wait for the kids! This recipe will give you one gallon of passion tea lemonade, which is equivalent to 16 cups. We made it yesterday. It was a hot, sunny day and there is only one serving left in the jar! Guess we’ll be making more today!
Store this delightful drink in a glass jar in the refrigerator for up to five days, though with a big family like mine, I’d be surprised if it lasts that long! Treat yourself to a refreshing, ice-cold glass today!
