Reuben sandwiches are one of my favorite sandwiches. The tender Corned Beef, smothered in creamy Russian Dressing, tangy sauerkraut, and melty swiss cheese nestled between two soft lightly grilled slices of Light Rye Bread.
Let’s face it, not every restaurant makes a good Reuben. However, I assure you that by following this recipe, you’ll create Reuben sandwiches that surpasses anything you’ve tasted before. Not only will you savor the rich flavors of this sandwich, but you’ll also take pride in knowing that what you’ve prepared for yourself and your loved ones is fresh, wholesome, and devoid of any artificial additives.
I had always been a little skeptical to try one of these sandwiches. I mean, how could these ingredients go together? Each one has a very distinctly different flavor. But I was clearly wrong. This is amazing. After preparing these Reuben sandwiches for my family, I couldn’t resist calling my dad to share the news. I had to make these sandwiches again and enjoy this delightful experience together!
Sauerkraut
One of the five flavorful ingredients that is a must on this sandwich is sauerkraut. It seems like it just wouldn’t jive, but it is a must! You can easily find sauerkraut at your local grocery store. There are many brands offering organic options that contain only organic cabbage, water, and sea salt.
Besides its distinctive flavor, sauerkraut boasts numerous health benefits. It’s essentially fermented cabbage, and this fermentation process produces a wealth of lactic acid bacteria, which is incredibly beneficial for our gut health. This probiotic power also appears in other well-known foods like yogurt. Furthermore, sauerkraut is a fantastic source of dietary fiber, which contributes to good gastrointestinal health, all while being low in both fat and calories.
