Ingredients
 

Shortbread

  • cups Flour
  • 1/3 cup Sugar
  • 1 cup Butter

Caramel

  • 2 cups Brown sugar
  • 1 cup Butter
  • 1/2 cup Heavy cream
  • 1 tsp Sea salt

Chocolate

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 325℉.
  • Grease a 13x 9 baking dish and place a piece of parchment paper with overhang for an easy removal sling.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and butter until crumbly.
  • Pour the crumbs into the baking dish and press to evenly coat the bottom of the dish.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the edges begin to brown.
  • Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before adding the remaining ingredients.
  • While the shortbread is baking, heat the brown sugar and butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
  • Bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally.
  • Add the heavy cream and sea salt to the saucepan and stir.
  • Heat the caramel to 240℉.
  • Remove from the heat and allow to cool for 5 minutes.
  • Pour the caramel on top of the shortbread and spread to cover the shortbread. Place the baking dish in the freezer while preparing the chocolate layer.
  • In a mixing bowl, melt the chocolate chips and heavy cream in the microwave. Stir to combine a smooth, spreadable chocolate.
  • Remove the baking dish from the freezer and pour the chocolate layer on top of the caramel layer. Gently spread with a spatula to cover all of the caramel.
  • Refrigerate for one hour before cutting into squares.
